Gwynn Lewis

What’s it like to be in prison for drugs?

When you go to prison in New Mexico for carrying 2 joints of marijuana (10 year sentence), and get out on parole, you naturally run away to Equator so you can get thrown into prison there for cooking cocaine. How you get from there to starting a charity that helps children who would otherwise be forgotten is the story of Gwynn Lewis. For more on Sowers International, click here.

Joe Fuiten

What’s it like mixing politics and religion?

Politics was Joe Fuiten’s first love. Although he’s given up on becoming President of the United States, Joe is still very interested in political issues. He pastors an unusual church, even for a mega-church. They offer the typical services (worship, counseling, and a school) and some unusual ones (including auto repair, cemetery and a funeral home). But he’s also well known for his Pastor’s Picks; his choice on every contested election in the State of Washington and Northern Oregon. For more from Joe Fuiten click here.

09 Brad Hill

by · May 1, 2011

What’s it like to ride in a dugout canoe?

When in college Brad Hill and I spent many a psych class together. He was tall and thin; I was less and more. He was always a runner (always double tie your shoe laces). The only thing I ran for was the bus. I went on in psych but Brad spent many years in Congo. The experience tested his cultural assumptions and shook him to the core. And you’ll learn why community is so important to him.

08 Terry Hart

What’s it like being a cop?

I tracked Terry Hart to Cody, WY. It’s apparently where ex-police officers hang out. They go there to get away from crime, drink coffee and shoot at fence posts. But back when he was a cop in LA, things were quite different. Terry explains the best part of job, the value of martial arts, and why you should be prepared before you go to a police academy. He also shares how he got through taking someone’s life.

01 Phil Enloe

Phil & Jan Enloe

What’s it like to be a Gospel singer and song writer?

Gospel music is like Dixieland jazz with words. It’s enthusiastic, energetic and uplifting. Even non-religious folk love it. And Phil Enloe has been singing gospel music professionally for nearly 50 years. He shares his wisdom on taking care of your voice, stage fright, and the rigors of being on the road. You’ll learn the world’s shortest prayer, and about the guy who died in the middle of a concert. The interview cuts off suddenly because of a technical difficulty (me). For Phil and Jan’s website click here.
