Ed Goldfarb

What’s it like to write music for movies?

Like most composers, Ed Goldfarb loves storytelling. And like many arrangers, he thinks in orchestra. He grew up playing the piano and by junior high, he got his first paid gigs. Later, the piano would help him make a living and introduce him to film director Francis Ford Coppola. When in high school, Ed used his keyboard skills to land a job as a church organist at a large Methodist church. He explains how he made it from church to the movies. For more on Ed click here.

Mike Vaccaro

What’s it like to be one of the best woodwind players in the world?

If you’re heard albums by Ray Charles, Johnny Mathis, Elton John, or Willie Nelson, you’ve heard Mike Vaccaro. He was on the road with the big band sounds of Count Basie, Woody Herman, Paul Horn and Stan Kenton. If there’s an orchestra in a movie, a Broadway show, or a ballet in town, Mike will be close by. He explains what it takes to be a professional musician, how the size of the audience matters, his 2 regrets, and how the music business has changed.

Phil & Jan Enloe

What’s it like to be a Gospel singer and song writer?

Gospel music is like Dixieland jazz with words. It’s enthusiastic, energetic and uplifting. Even non-religious folk love it. And Phil Enloe has been singing gospel music professionally for nearly 50 years. He shares his wisdom on taking care of your voice, stage fright, and the rigors of being on the road. You’ll learn the world’s shortest prayer, and about the guy who died in the middle of a concert. The interview cuts off suddenly because of a technical difficulty (me).
