15 Darren Kitchen

Darren Kitchen

What’s it like being a hacker?

Darren Kitchen has always loved computers. He explains his passion for technology, how he started Hak5, and why it’s good to have a supportive mother when the Feds visit your house. His path went from ballroom dancing in Williamsburg, VA to shooting a weekly show  in  SF (San Francisco for the uninitiated). Darren took some college classes but unofficially audited a lot more. Education coupled with doing things on your own leads to success, or at least a lot of fun. Or both if you’re lucky. If you like technology, you’ll love Hak5. Click here.

  1. Wow. It was very interesting to find out so much about one of the people I enjoy watching on podcasts. I’ve watched Hak5 since the beginning and I think I found out more about Darren and what makes him tick behind the scenes.

    Thank you!

  2. Darren, thanks for being so open of your past, it was really interesting to hear what was your background! I really love HAK5 and will continue to watch and support it forever…

  3. Nice interview, really enjoyed it. Great quality audio (take note Darren!), loved the searching questions. Now I understand where the love of dance comes from.

Just to clarify, Darren is married to the show! He’s a one-man production company with some great friends. Hak5 has a loyal fan base, and that’s an amazing testament to his abilities. I’m really happy for the crew that Hak5 is taking off in the new location and I hope they go from strength to strength. Trust your technolust!
