Alex Lindsay

What’s it like combining technology and movie making?

If Frank Sinatra, Captain Penniman and Alex Lindsay were in a boat, it would be tough to know which would win the war of wills. But my money’s on Alex. There’s no doubt he’s dedicated. He lives just north of San Francisco but is still a Pittsburg Steelers fan. Alex acquired his love of everything geek from his grandfather. After working on Star Wars, Alex started the Pixel Corps and his own production company. He has some strong views on education, the value of technology, and what you should do with your life.

Robert Scoble

What’s it like being a technology guru?

Robert Scoble comes by his love of technology naturally. He grew up in Cupertino, California, what some would say was the center of the known universe of tech. Robert entered science fairs as a kid but never caught the engineering bug. He enjoyed using technology more than generating code. He has always enjoyed learning from talking to people, which he still does. To visit Robert’s site, click here.

Jody Franklin

What’s it like doing tech support?

Jody Franklin understands that people are afraid of technology. He says his mother doesn’t like to dust anything with buttons. So Jody helps people figure out how to plug it in, turn it on, and reset it. He likes technology but he’s also a poet and a free spirit. Deadlines are great, if someone else imposes them but it’s hard to keep a good mind still. Jody’s always been bright but school became much easier once a teacher noticed his dyslexia. Eileen Rivera

What’s it like producing TV for the web?

Growing up in leisurely S. Cal. where media stories are local news, Eileen Rivera decided to pursue journalism.  She started as yearbook editor, mostly so the popular kids didn’t get all the attention. She moved on to traditional media but has settled into doing video on the web. Eileen is the producer for Leo Laporte’s This Week In Tech broadcast. And hosts her own shows on Androids (the phones) and Vampires (the books and movies). But she also speaks eloquently of what it’s like to fall in love. For more about Eileen’s work, click here.

Randall Bennett

What’s it like working for a startup?

Randall Bennett is of the generation that has always had a computer. He family believed that if you can read, you can think; and if you can think, you can program a computer. He thought he’d be an artist but found that he loved communication more than charcoal drawing. Randall is fascinated by intra-company communication. He says you’ve got to deal with a lot of organizational issues if you’re going to make a dent in the world. And denting the world is his main goal. Follow Randall Bennett on Twitter. @randallbennett

Darren Kitchen

What’s it like being a hacker?

Darren Kitchen has always loved computers. He explains his passion for technology, how he started Hak5, and why it’s good to have a supportive mother when the Feds visit your house. His path went from ballroom dancing in Williamsburg, VA to shooting a weekly show  in  SF (San Francisco for the uninitiated). Darren took some college classes but unofficially audited a lot more. Education coupled with doing things on your own leads to success, or at least a lot of fun. Or both if you’re lucky. If you like technology, you’ll love Hak5. Click here.
